History

The year was 1990 and with a $5,000.00 line of credit, his perm rods and his cutting shears, Christopher Hopkins opened a beauty salon in the KSTP Studios’ Hubbard Building on the border of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The diminutive space consisted of three styling chairs, one make up stool, a manicuring table and a shampoo bowl. It was a leap of faith.

Named Christopher Hopkins Salon, the team created and maintained the looks of the KSTP television on-air talent and was featured regularly on “Good Company,” a popular daytime talk show. Word spread and the company grew.

In 1994, Christopher and partner Robert Lindquist relocated the company to downtown Minneapolis, re-naming it Christopher Hopkins Image Center (CHIC). Though hidden within an athletic club on the 6th floor of the Hyatt Regency, CHIC gained national recognition, and in local print, television and radio.

Then it happened. Christopher’s appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1995 gave Christopher, Robert and their staff international credibility. A repeat appearance in 1998 uplifted the company to top national status and caught the eye of three businessmen looking for an opportunity.

The resulting partnership was creation of reVamp! salonspa in Uptown Minneapolis. reVamp! salonspa, voted “Best of the Twin Cities” by Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine is regularly featured in local and national print, radio, television and internet presentations. Christopher’s original vision continues with our mission: “To inspire beauty and enrich lives in a spirit of friendliness, professionalism, and joy.”
